To Facilitate Security Screening in Line with Aviation Security StandardsCorporate
The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has announced updated guidelines regarding the screening of checked baggage for passengers traveling by air. This follows the CAAT Notification on the Screening of Checked Baggage to Be Transported by Aircraft B.E. 2569 (2026), which will take effect on 16 October 2026. The measure aims to further enhance aviation security in accordance with international standards.
CAAT recommends that passengers use internationally recognized luggage locking systems, such as TSA-approved locks, which can be opened using a Master Key or TSA Master Tool. This allows security officers to conduct inspections when necessary without causing damage to checked baggage (hold baggage transported in the aircraft cargo compartment).
Screening of checked baggage is a standard aviation security measure. If a bag must be opened for inspection, airport authorities will retain evidence and notify the passenger through a baggage inspection notice.
If prohibited items are discovered, screening officers are authorized to confiscate such items in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and procedures.
CAAT kindly requests passengers to:
These actions will help ensure safety, convenience, and confidence throughout the journey.
